Tri-Rail serves as many things for South Floridians. It serves as a great way to relax in the morning instead of fighting with the backed-up I95. It serves as an even better way to save $8,000 a year. It also benefits the environment after switching to bio-diesel fuel in 2008! This month, Tri-Rail is celebrating all of these GREAT things with "Go green and Save!" This campaign encourages South Floridians to leave their cars at home and use public transportation. This campaign also features a free giveaway. Visitors can log onto www.tri-rail.com to enter to win a FREE one-year transit pass. It's that simple!
Tri-Rail Commuter Tips:
1. Arrive at the station in plenty of time to catch your train. Trains will not have
the flexibility to wait on late comers. Tri-Rail suggests passengers should arrive
at the station 20 minutes prior to departure. The new schedule is reduced by
five additional minutes from the current total run time, and crews will be
instructed not to wait for late passengers.
2. Give yourself enough time to get to the station and purchase your ticket.
Wackenhut will continue to give warnings and issue citations to people who are
attempting to travel without a valid ticket.
3. Tri-Rail will no longer wait for passengers at the Metrorail Transfer Station,
unless the Metrorail train is in the station.
4. Members of the Employer Discount Program must have a valid EDP ID
Card and photo identification in their possession to be eligible to ride at the
reduced fare.
5. Passengers should be considerate of other passengers. Do not block seats or
aisles with baggage or packages or place your feet on seats.
6. Passengers need to be on the lower level ready to depart the train, as soon as
the doors open at the departure station.
7. While on the platform, passengers should stand off-to-the-side from the
coach doors, to allow arriving passengers to exit the train before attempting to
board.
8. The train-tracking feature on www.tri-rail.com will no longer operate due to
concerns about the accuracy of the information being provided.
9. If train delays occur, information will be announced via the station electronic
message signs and through e-mails made possible by Tri-Rail’s Very Important
Passenger Program.
10. Passengers should call Customer Service at 1-800-TRI-RAIL (874-7245) for
additional train updates.
11. For additional information on Tri-Rail Rules and Regulations, or for general
information, log onto www.tri-rail.com or call 1-800-TRI-RAIL (874-7245).
