- Create a written plan for your photographer. Make not of all of the pictures that you want because your photographer might not be a mind reader! This way he/she can check off the photos and continue making memories! Lists also help to make sure that important guests, like the father of the bride, and significant milestones, like the exchanging of the rings, aren’t absent from your beach wedding album.
- Be sure to utilize a quality camera that has an adequate zoom lens. This prevents the subjects being dwarfed by the extravagant bridal background. For most of the shots, have the photographer stand in front of the sun to minimize the shadows and silhouettes that can detract from the subjects. If you do want a couple of silhouette shots (which can be very romantic), do the opposite.
- Make sure pictures are taken throughout the course of the day and evening, as different lighting options will afford different photographic opportunities.
- While you’ll want some formal posed shots of the bride, groom, and wedding party, the laid-back, relaxed nature of a beach wedding also calls for some fun candid shots. Often, it’s the unplanned photos that best capture the spirit of the event.
- You never know who will blink during a photo - so be sure to snap triple of the amount of pictures that you expect. You do not need to order all of the photos and can certainly use the extras if you like them!
