Palm Beach Web Design

Many companies will tell you a list of "do's" for web design. This is helpful, however, you also need a list of don'ts! Boca Web gives you that advice in this article?

1. You don’t want to have so many options that your visitors get confused and overwhelmed. Make your site concise and easy to navigate for the average user.

2. Customers want to know who they are buying from and to whom they are providing their personal information. If you do not have easy and credible contact information listed on your site, users will not trust your company.

3. Visitors value the ability to obtain information instantly. If you are advertising an offer, don’t make them click through several pages to find the details. They will become impatient and move onto the next website.

4. Making customers fill out long forms to get a free offer. Customers hate this and it makes them suspicious when they have to enter their personal information. Do not ask unnecessary details such as their mother’s maiden name. A simple first name and email address is enough.

5. Several unnecessary links on your website that are interesting enough to catch their attention and make them leave your site. You want to keep them on your site and not introduce them to others.

6. Instructions for simple actions such as ordering a product or registering are long and not direct to the point. Make sure you have simple and direct instructions for actions throughout your site.

7. Glittering and blinking images are all over your website and you are using contrasting font and background colors. Keep it simple, not too busy. You don’t want your visitors to be so distracted with your design that they don’t know what you’re offering.

8. Your homepage is not welcoming. This is often your “first impression” and that means the most. Not everyone like to read a long essay so make your points short and interesting with images that depict your business, products, or special offers. Don’t include too much information though. Your visitors should be drawn to explore your site in more depth.

9. You have multiple errors and missing images. Having errors on your site is unprofessional and will discourage customers.

10. The theme of your site does not match the content of your business. If your site is for a law firm, make sure the images and theme reflect that. Don’t put pictures about your new cute pet or bright flashy neon colors because it is not related to your business. Stick to your theme and create good content!
